Contemporary Paintings

by Elizabeth Williams

Every painting starts as a question. I work through color, pattern, shape, and character until the relationships begin to reveal themselves. That moment—when the painting starts telling me what it needs—is what keeps me painting.

There are moments that arrive without warning. You look up and suddenly everything is bigger than it was a second ago. The sky. The possibilities. The simple fact of being exactly where you are. “A Big Sky Moment” is that feeling on canvas – color moving in every direction, life happening all at once, the earth solid beneath you and everything above luminous and open. Not a quiet painting. Not a careful one. A painting that grabs you by the shoulders and says – look. Look at all of this. This your life and it is magnificent.

Notes From the Studio Table
$5,800.00

Mixed Media on Canvas

Size: 60" x 48” on canvas

UV Varnish for protection.

Framed in a Walnut Metal Floating Frame

Wired and ready to hang.

Notes from the Studio Table” reads like a working surface—marks, colors, and quick decisions left visible. Shapes collide, repeat, and revise, as if the painting is thinking out loud. Nothing is precious; everything is in motion. It’s a record of process: what accumulates when intuition leads and the table becomes a place to test, edit, and keep going.

A Table With Opinions
$5,000.00

Mixed Media on Canvas

Size: 57" x 44” on canvas

UV Varnish for protection.

Framed in a Walnut Metal Floating Frame

Wired and ready to hang.

A Table With Opinions is a still life with attitude—striped runners, clinking glasses, a bouquet that refuses to behave, and cake waiting at the center like a dare. I love how a table can feel like a stage: patterns argue, colors flirt, and every object suggests the people who were just here—or are about to arrive. It’s a celebration, slightly unruly, and fully alive.

Milkglass Bloom
$5,800.00

Mixed Media on Canvas

Size: 60" x 48” on canvas

UV Varnish for protection.

Framed in a Walnut Metal Floating Frame

Wired and ready to hang.

Milkglass Bloom is less about the flowers than what contains them. Like milkglass itself, the vessel softens what it holds, keeping the arrangement partially hidden and quietly unresolved. What’s visible is enough; what’s withheld is the point.

Paintings meant to be lived with.

I make work shaped by color, pattern, character, and the relationships that emerge between them. Find the one that keeps pulling you back for another look.

Meet Elizabeth

I’ve been painting for more than 25 years, following color, pattern, and the relationships that emerge as a painting develops. My work begins with structure, but I leave plenty of room for discovery—the part that keeps me coming back to the studio.
